This non-surgical procedure is for the face, neck and décolletage. It stimulates the body’s own natural healing process to lift and tighten the skin over time. The use of FDA-cleared micro-focused ultrasound technology enables us to see and then treat the deepest support layers of the skin. This approach allows for the same results typically addressed in cosmetic surgery without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin.
With just one Ultherapy treatment at Rejuvenate Rx the lifting process is initiated. The effect however, will build gradually over the course of two to three months as new, stronger collagen is created. Further improvements can even appear up to twelve months following a single Ultherapy procedure as the collagen-building process continues. Stop by our office in Wandermere West or call us at (509)290-6149 to learn more about Ulthera in Spokane.
Warm temperatures and longer days keep your mood light but acne flares can become an issue in the summertime.
Higher temperatures can increase facial oil production which can lead to clogged pores; contributing to black heads and breakouts. Sweating also contributes to inflammation which can worsen acne.
A few simple changes to your skin regimen can help control summer skin problems.
1) Gentle yet diligent–Wash your face with a non-drying foaming or lotion cleanser twice a day. Avoid harsh soaps and toners which can dry out the superficial skin layers and stimulate more oil production. You may want to let your cleanser set on your skin for a minute or two prior to rinsing.
2) Unplug—a quality clay mask a few times a week is great for absorbing oil and clearing pores.
3) Go lightly or skip—a lighter moisturizer or hydrating gel is usually enough to keep your skin happy. Many skip moisturizers altogether in the summer. Drinking plenty of water will help keep your skin plump and soft.
4) Protect—Use a gentle facial sunscreen daily. Choose a product with an SPF of at least 30. Try a tinted mineral sunscreen. Mineral sunscreens are great because they reflect UV radiation rather than absorbing the rays and causing heat damage to the skin.
5) Seek guidance—Come see us at Rejuvenate Rx for a little help if your acne continues to bother.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
So Many Hairs, So Many Technicians! How to Choose the Right Bikini-Waxing Experience
One of the many services we provide here at Rejuvenate Rx is waxing. Our seasoned experts have fine-tuned what is needed to have an exceptional waxing experience. We know that there are many other local businesses offering this delicate service so we thought to help you distinguish the best standards as you seek out where and if you should wax– especially now that bathing suit season is upon us.
Before you set foot in a treatment room there are a couple things you can do to ensure your best results:
1. Exfoliate the bikini area beforehand using light, upward motions to release trapped hairs that can be forced back into the skin.
2. Stop shaving– ¼ inch hair length is ideal.
3. Discontinue Retinol products for 3 days prior to your appointment and inform your provider that you are using Retinol.
Once you are in the treatment receiving your waxing service, please make sure your choice is a safe one by paying attention to how your technician is performing the task:
• Sanitation is first and foremost. Bacteria can be transferred through waxing which can cause serious infections such as Staph or even MRSA.
• Gloves are a must when waxing the pubic region.
• Once the wax has been applied to the skin, the same stick should never be re-dipped into the wax.
Pain management is a concern that should be managed including quick wax removal followed by pressing on the area as soon as the wax has been lifted. The technician should use a product to soothe the skin and protect it after the treatment.
A post-treatment product regimen is ideal to use at home to help you avoid the inflammation of ingrown hairs. At Rejuvenate Rx, we offer the products below as homecare during your 3-4 weeks of grow out (1/4 inch is ideal) until you are ready for the next session.
Rejuvenate Rx Post- Care Recommendations for bikini waxing:
Clarisonic Pro Body –Head to toe ultrasonic exfoliation.
Skinceuticals Blemish and Age Serum- -antibacterial with anti-inflammatory properties
Skinceuticals Retinol 0.5
After a few regular waxing cycles your hair will get on a stable grow-out cycle. The more you do this service, the less discomfort you will experience at each treatment. As an added bonus, your hair will grow back sparser with continued waxing.
Our estheticians at Rejuvenate Rx are here Monday – Saturday to help you with all your waxing needs. Feel free to call us with any question or concerns. Let us show you what exceptional care is all about.
Since we, “the new kids in town” opened in June of 2012 we have been growing and garnering recognition as the “place to go” for corrective skincare, injectables and esthetic services in Spokane and the surrounding areas.
We’ve added some services including eyelash extensions and spider vein treatments. Plus, you’ve been telling your friends about Dr. Gwyn’s skills at BotoxTM, JuvedermTM; and removing age spots and other sun damage with her special treatments.

We couldn’t be more excited about joining the premiere businesses at the Wandemere Village West (picture Starbucks, Mel’s, Sweet Frostings…) We expect to transition to the new space in mid-May. Full, lush eyelashes can be yours in one appointment at Rejuvenate Rx. Eyelash extensions are individual lashes attached to your own lashes using a special bonding agent. Once affixed, your extensions will grow along with your natural lash growth cycle. We put together some tips to make your lash extensions a success.
When setting your appointment: Expect to spend a little over 2 hours for a full set of lashes. Fill appointments are typically 1 hour in length.
Before your appointment: Remove your makeup if possible. If not, we will remove your makeup for you at the time of your appointment. The lash adhesive works better on lashes that are completely free of any residues or oils.
After your appointment:
1) After each application, whether a full set or a “fill,” avoid getting your lashes wet for 48 hours.
2) Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools and hot tubs for 48 hours.
3) Avoid “drenching” work outs for 48 hours.
4) Use eye make-up and removers that are oil-free
5) Avoid waterproof make-up, especially waterproof mascara.
6) Wearing less make-up is better for your lash extensions.
7) Resist urges to pull or tug on your lashes. If your lashes are crisscrossing, use a lash wand to brush them straight from root to tip. We will provide you with a wand at your appointment.
8) Keep your extensions beautiful and well-maintained by keeping your lash-fill appointments every 2-3 weeks.
Enjoy your beautiful lashes! Give us a call at (509)290-6149 if you would like more information.
Wrinkles and age spots aren’t the only problems as we age. There is another large part of the aging equation: Volume loss. Volume loss in the cheeks causes our faces to flatten which causes the skin on our faces to migrate lower and look saggy.
Enter VolumaTM from Allergan. VolumaTM is the first and only FDA approved filler to add volume to the cheek area, mainly on the cheek bone. VolumaTM gives you back lifted, youthful, cute cheeks for up to 2 years. There is very little, if any recovery time and your results are instant.
We are happy to share with you more information over the phone or in complimentary office consultation. Give us a call at (509)290-6149.

Glabellar lines (also called frown lines) are vertical lines that appear between the eyebrows as we get older. Over time, repeated muscle contraction combined with less skin elasticity results in those lines becoming visible even when we are not frowning. As we age, muscles may also develop some residual tonicity (incomplete muscle relaxation) that makes the creases visible even when we are “relaxed.”
What to do about it?
Refraining from knitting your eyebrows is one technique for avoiding glabellar creases. This may work for those of us who are able to employ this strategy. I tend to knit my brows at the slightest need for concentration (epic fail on that one although I did try.)
Proper skin care, good hydration, sunglasses and healthy lifestyle choices may help decrease the appearance of the lines once they appear however there is no evidence to suggest that they are treatments for glabellar lines in and of themselves.
A neuromodulator such as Botoxtm is far and away the best treatment for glabellar creases. These medications block nerve impulses that cause muscle contractions and allow the muscles to relax. The overlying skin is then able to smooth out; improving or eliminating those glabellar creases. A typical treatment with Botoxtm for the glabellar area is 20 units for women and 30 units for men; but remember that the amount of Botoxtm needed to achieve the desired result varies from person to person.
You should also know that Botoxtm takes 3 days to take effect and 14 days before the full effect is reached; therefore, you should always return to your injector after two weeks to determine if your results are optimal or if a little more medication is needed. Once you are optimally treated, the effects of Botoxtm will generally last from 3-5 months, depending on how actively you contract your muscles and other factors such as exercise and metabolism. You can plan for treatment 3-4 times a year as a guide.
“I have never met anyone who’s had Botoxtm done well who didn’t want to do it again.”
–Dr. Gwyn @ Rejuvenate Rx—your prescription for healthy skin
Crisp air, warm fireplaces, beautiful foliage, acne breakouts……Yes, fall is the season of acne flares. The cooler, drier weather pulls moisture from the surface of the skin. Oils become a little more viscous and sluggish when moving up through the pores. The result is more dead skin cells on the surface and more plugged pores below; not a good combination for those of us who are prone to acne.
I would like to share some tips for curbing the willingness of our skin to misbehave in the cooler weather.
#1—Don’t over-dry your skin. I know the tendency is to use harsher, drying acne formulations when our skin is breaking out. But don’t! This only increases the amount of dry skin cells on the surface. Your skin senses dehydration and produces even more oil which promotes bacterial activity. Use low foaming or even lotion cleansers.
#2–Exfoliate but don’t traumatize your skin. Use smooth, round exfoliating beads rather than sharp, ground seed pods (like apricot shells.) Use salicylic-acid products to promote gentle cell by cell exfoliation without over-drying your skin. Now would also be the time to get a professional facial that includes a mild chemical peel.
#3—Moisturize your skin. Use a light moisturizing lotion for daytime and a heavier, more emollient moisturizer at night. Apply the moisturizer after cleaning your face while the skin is still damp to seal in precious moisture. I prefer to skip the moisturizers that have alpha-hydroxy acids in them; instead I prefer to use cleansers that have salicylic or alpha-hydroxy acids (that are then rinsed off.)
#4—Spot treat with formulations that contain salicylic acid rather than benzoyl peroxide. Salicylic acid penetrates the spot without over-drying your skin the way BP can.
If you are still struggling with unresolved complexion issues please give us a call (509)290-6149 for other treatments, including prescription solutions. Consultations are always complimentary. At Rejuvenate Rx we love working with you to clear up acne and promote beautiful healthy skin.
Enjoy every season!
