Since we, “the new kids in town” opened in June of 2012 we have been growing and garnering recognition as the “place to go” for corrective skincare, injectables and esthetic services in Spokane and the surrounding areas.
We’ve added some services including eyelash extensions and spider vein treatments. Plus, you’ve been telling your friends about Dr. Gwyn’s skills at BotoxTM, JuvedermTM; and removing age spots and other sun damage with her special treatments.
Now we are entering into another phase of our evolution: A new location! We couldn’t be more excited about joining the premiere businesses at the Wandemere Village West (picture Starbucks, Mel’s, Sweet Frostings…) We expect to transition to the new space in mid-May. We will be expanding our available days, hours and staff once we are in our new home.
We are grateful for your friendship and support–and definitely enjoying this ride. Come join in the fun!
We are very excited to offer sclerotherapy services at Rejuvenate Rx. Sclerotherapy is an injection therapy that works to eliminate unsightly spider veins on your legs or just about anywhere else.
Spider veins or telangiectasias are small thin veins that lie close to the surface of the skin; although they are considered mainly a “cosmetic” problem, they can cause sensations of burning or itching at times.
Sclerotherapy is the method for eliminating superficial spider veins by the injection of a “sclerosing” agent directly into the affected blood vessels using a very fine needle. The result is closure and the eventual disappearance of the spider veins.
Most of the time you will require several sessions to achieve your desirable result; although certain blood vessels will be successfully treated on the first session, there are usually many vessels that need treatment over a few visits. The number of treatments you need depends on how many areas need treatment and how many blood vessels there are.
To help achieve the best results we will meet with you at least 1 week prior to your first procedure to review medical history, discuss the procedure and review aftercare protocols.
We look forward to seeing you. Give us a call at (509) 290-6149 if you want to know more about what we can do for you at Rejuvenate Rx!
Acne breakouts are caused by blocked pores (follicles.) We don’t know all the reasons that the follicles become obstructed, but when they do oil that is produced in oil glands cannot exit the pores to moisturize the skin effectively. Instead, the sebum (oil) along with skin cells along the pore becomes trapped. The combination forms a sticky plug which effectively traps bacteria in the pore where they multiply and cause inflammation.
One of the most effective treatments for acne, used alone or in combination with other therapies is chemical peels.
At Rejuvenate Rx, we specialize in both chemical peels and other acne treatments. If you have been frustrated by acne we would love to help you. Call (509) 290-6149 to learn more. –Dr. Gwyn
They may have fallen off the radar screens among those sexy sounding laser procedures for skin anti-aging techniques; but the simple truth behind the power of chemical peels is “They work.”
Chemical Peels have been clinically shown to build collagen and elastin in the dermis of the skin. The dermis is the layer of skin that “plumps from within.” Chemical Peels also cause rapid exfoliation of millions of layers of dead skin cells and speed cellular turnover—hence the radiance and glowing complexion. Over time, chemical peels are your best ally against hyperpigmentation and blotchiness, especially when specifically formulated with anti-pigmentation ingredients. Acne is another condition that benefits greatly from clinical chemical peels.
An even nicer truth about certain chemical peels such as SkinCeuticals MicroPeels TM is that they leave your skin smooth, hydrated and glowing. There is no down time. There is no redness or flaking.
Last, but not least: The cost of a series of MicroPeels is much less than a single laser treatment and certainly less than a series of laser treatments.

As we get older, hair starts to grow in all sorts of places that one could consider unsightly. Unfortunately, this hair can also be difficult to remove. Nose hair is a very common area of unwanted extra hair growth. This can be improved by waxing the hair instead of using alternative methods. Although you have other ways of removing nose hair, waxing truly makes the most sense.
Nose-hair trimmer. This will give you quick results but you will be left with stubble and the hair will begin to grow back almost immediately.
Scissors: With this option you are again left with stubble and the hair grows back quickly as well. Accidental cuts are common.
Hair removal creams: Not recommended for the nose due to a high probability of chemical burns in the nostril and respiratory side effects.
Tweezers: Ouch! This will take a long time if you are removing a large amount of hair. It will also be painful as you are pulling hairs out one at a time or a few at a time at best.
Electrolysis: This involves a needle that penetrates the skin and is placed next to the hair follicle. It then sends an electric current to destroy the root and the dead hair must then be tweezed. The needle must be inserted into every single hair follicle which is hard to do with a small area such as the nose. Prepare for hours of pain.
Waxing: This procedure literally takes about a minute per nostril. You get long-lasting results because the hair is removed in its entirety. A new hair must grow back in its place which will take weeks. Our esthetician has great technique for this procedure—don’t watch internet videos, she uses a very different technique which we would be happy to explain to you on the phone or in person.
Instead of incorporating a hair removal method that requires everyday management, choose waxing and get back living life without worrying about those unattractive nose hairs. Kim Jarrell our licensed esthetician at Rejuvenate Rx is well-known for her gentle touch and expertise in waxing. Make an appointment for services or complimentary consultation at (509)290-6149.
Amy Clark, Mrs. Washington America 2013
Amy is an Elementary Music Teacher and proud Spokanite!
Rejuvenate Rx supports Amy and her dreams by sponsoring all her skin care. To promote a good image, Amy needs to be healthy inside and out. She’s a perfect candidate for collaboration.
After a recent appointment at Rejuvenate Rx, we sat down with Amy to hear her story. Please enjoy Amy Clark, Mrs. Washington America: in the first person…
“Heart For Service: Every Person Can Serve”
Explain your journey to reach this point as Mrs. Washington (mentally and physically):
This was my second time competing for the title of Mrs. Washington. The first time was more of a learning process. I really enjoyed using my title of Mrs. Spokane County to serve various organizations around Spokane and had a great time competing at Mrs. Washington 2012. I came in 2nd runner up that year, but gained some lifelong girlfriends and a resolve to use the experience I’d gained to try one more time. I also felt like there was more I could do for our community with my local title.
I spent last year volunteering, continuing my work as a youth leader, and serving on the advisory board for a local mentoring organization. I got a coach who helped me with my preparations for Mrs. Washington, practiced my interview skills with some amazing people, and kept a good diet and exercise routine (I lost a total of 30 pounds during these two years and am in the best shape of my life).
It’s been an amazing journey of setting and achieving personal goals. Winning the title last November was just icing on the cake-really great icing!! I’m honored to now represent our state at Mrs. America and am excited to be a spokesperson for the Hope Heart Institute (Mrs. Washington’s state charity) and promote my platform of “Heart for Service-every person can serve”.
You can read more stories on Mrs. Washington and Rejuvenate Rx on facebook:
Amy competes in Mrs. America on Aug. 28, 2013 in Tucson AZ (we’ll definitely send her with plenty of sunblock.)

When you have eczema your skin is more sensitive than someone who doesn’t have it. Eyelids are more susceptible to eczema than most areas on your body because eyelid skin is thin and very reactive to irritants.
It is important to know that the rash didn’t appear because your eczema “felt” like flaring up. Something triggered it.
In many cases, that “something” is coming in direct (or indirect) contact with the skin around your eyes. Think about metals such as nickel, tin and gold (yes even wedding rings.) Consider chemical ingredients found in shampoos, laundry detergents, skincare products, makeup, rubber gloves, sunscreens and nail polish. Sometimes winter dry skin is all that is needed to increase your sensitivity to a metal or chemical that never caused any problem before.
We at Rejuvenate Rx are ready to help figure out the cause of the problem when it starts. However, you can start your investigation right away by eliminating (or changing) some of the items above for 2-4 weeks at a time—keep track of any changes you’ve made on your calendar. If you are still stumped, come on in for help! –Dr. Gwyn
Dr. Gwyn is looking forward to her “night at The Calm”. She’s ready to share some skincare secrets, tips, and plenty of joy.
Join us: April 11, 2013 @ 6:30… feel free to arrive when you are able, and join the conversation.
In first person, from Dr. Gwyn:
The earlier we start caring for our skin properly, the better. Skin care isn’t something you can take for granted. Many of us go along with our daily routine, then wake up one day and look in the mirror and say “wow” I really need to do something. That level of “awakening” varies from one person to another and affects individuals differently at various ages. Fortunately there are measures we can take to improve our skin, regardless of age.
I love being in a relaxed and fun environment where we can share knowledge and experiences. Sharing demonstrations always evokes such positive and enthusiastic responses, like “I didn’t know you could do that!”
When I’m at the Calm I feel at home with friends. It’s a warm, inclusive atmosphere that we have always enjoyed. It provides a safe space where it’s okay to explore and ask questions. And we can provide the answers.
Get your skin glowing for a big event. Kim Jarrell, our esthetician at Rejuvenate Rx has some ideas on how to put your best face forward on your special day.
A three-month head start is ideal, however there is a lot that you can do even days before your event.
A series of 4-6 corrective peels every 2 weeks will even out your complexion, correct acne scars and allow your skin to build collagen underneath the surface for a smoother appearance.
Get started on waxing your facial hair every four weeks and plan for facial and body waxing three days prior to the event.
Get your hair and makeup consultations done at least three weeks before your event so that you are not left with a style that doesn’t work for you. Schedule your manicure and pedicure 2 days before the event. Kim recommends a “gel manicure” which lasts for up to 2 weeks.
Body exfoliation 2-3 times a week leading up to your event will keep your skin smooth and allow for even application of self-tanning products if you feel that a bronze glow is in order.
Now you can relax and have a great time! –Dr. Gwyn and Kim
Many of us suffered through acne during our teen years with reassurances that the acne would “only be for a few more years.” “It’ll go away soon dear,” was the advice we heard from our parents, family members and even our doctors.
For some of us, those reassuring words were true. For others of us…..not so much. For some reason we continue to be plagued with the acne scourge well past our teens, twenties and even into our thirties, forties and fifties. Somewhere in our thirties and forties onward we also have to pay more attention to sun damage and other skin changes associated with aging.
SkinCeuticals Blemish and Age Defense serum is a novel acne treatment that pairs blemish therapy/prevention with the benefits of anti-aging properties. The formulation has been shown to reduce sebum production, decrease the growth of P.acnes bacteria, minimize hyperpigmentation and fight inflammation. It also promotes efficient and uniform exfoliation of dead skin cells, and thus keeps pores clear and complexion bright. In fact, in a recent head-to- head study published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology in June 2012 Blemish and Age Defense out performed a popular prescription acne therapy. Blemish and Age Defense is a great therapy for teenagers as well; after all, it’s never too early to prevent skin damage!
